Hello, Britzie's as promised here is the update on Adeena's first birthday. Yip we ended having a party haha here's what happened...
As I mentioned in party or nah I was not too keen on having a first birthday party but after a while, the 'mom guilt' kicked in and I started planning this party. The intention was to keep it simple and I was not too sure that I could pull it off since I am the most extra person ever!
Well, I can proudly say that I kept it simple alright! but my oh my what a drama-filled day. I promise you anything that could go wrong went wrong. From the cake not working out to our chair delivery guy getting hopelessly lost, raining wet while trying to find a party shop that had helium to fill our balloons and the balloons popping while trying to create our balloon arch. To top it all off we were still setting up when our guest started arriving because everything got so delayed by the issues that came up. Eventually, the guest that arrived started helping out just so that things could get done faster. Everyone pitched in and helped where help was needed and because of our joint effort, everything turned out beautifully. Obviously not how I envisioned the day going but I must say it all worked out ok. I honestly take my hat off to all the moms that end up doing it all themselves Kudos to you mama. At the end of it, everyone looked like they were having a great time but most importantly my little one had the time of her life.
Now that I have had the first birthday I don't mind shoving my mom guilt back into the closet where she belongs and I'll be totally ok with only having another party in a few year's time. I can't say that the next one will be as simple as the first because my little queen will definitely be involved in the planning of the party and she already takes so much after me so we can believe that it will be 'extra' haha.
What I've taken from all of this though is that the 1st birthday party is just another one of those events where we put so much attention and detail into the material side of things that we forget that it is actually just a day to celebrate your little one and even a day to celebrate surviving the first year. So my advice to mamas that get hit with 'mom guilt' it is ok to keep it simple an extravagant party is not necessary a cake and a few balloons will be just fine! so sit back and take the time to enjoy the day with your loved ones and make those memories that you can speak about for a lifetime at the end of it all that is what matters most!.
Much love my Britzie's XOXO
