Hi, Britzie's I hope this month has been more January than Januworry for all of you.
In another month my darling firstborn will be turning one and now it is time for me to face the most ultimate question. Do I have a party or not?
I was never a believer in having a birthday party for a child that has no idea about what is going on. I can hear all the gasps from the people reading this. I mean what mother chooses not to have a party for her kid?. Thing is I have always felt like the birthday party was more for the parents than anyone else and let's face it what adult truly wants to go to a toddlers birthday party and let's not forget to mention the over the top birthdays that you see lately that are costly, lots of work and for average moms like myself a total nightmare. I always believed that it should be simple and intimate like all your loved ones would come over for cake, you will all sing happy birthday and then everyone goes home.
I have now realized that it is easier said than done. Especially when your child has been blessed with loved ones that all want to celebrate their first year with her. Also "mom guilt" is a real thing! So I decided to do something but to keep it super simple but how does one have a simple get together when the guest list of our nearest and dearest amounts to 72 people? Initially, I thought OK just cake and tea but then you go ahead and order a really cute themed cake and then you decide to have a themed invite but oh no it doesn't stop there. I then decided that just any plain old decorations just won't do we need to at least let it be cute right!. So now I find myself basically trolling Pinterest for ideas. How did it all get so crazy so fast?
*Sigh* Maybe I am just really extra. Or maybe I just decided to throw myself a party but I just won't admit it. My only consolation is that I will be announcing that this is the first and last for now until she is much older and understands the concept of a birthday party. Has anyone else gone through this? and what is your take on this whole situation?. Do you want to party or nah?
We still have time so hopefully, it will stay simple and I won't get too crazy. So keep an eye out for the birthday post after the 16th of Feb to see how it all panned out.
To be continued... Much love my Britzie’s XOXO
